A word before the lead goes on
Tenterden has a High Street wide enough for a carriage, a steam railway with firm views about First Class, and enough dog-friendly tables to suggest the canine population has secured representation on the council. This guide gathers the places where dogs can eat out, shop, stay, walk and join the town’s events.
The entries are based on venue websites, official visitor information, community directories and recent listings checked on 21 July 2026. Independent businesses can change a policy for private functions, food-service arrangements, building work, livestock, weather or crowd levels. A quick telephone call remains the finest insurance against arriving with a dog, two children and the expression of a person whose plan has just left the building.

Stay over without smuggling the dog
Dog-friendly bedrooms exist, though “pet friendly” nearly always means selected rooms, advance notice and a charge.
Book directly, name the dog, give the size honestly and ask where dogs may go at breakfast and dinner. A room policy can be generous while the restaurant policy remains rather more formal.

Trains, festivals and dates for the diary

The 2026 event is advertised for Saturday 8 August, from 9am to 3pm; check the organiser’s page before travelling.
